Deposits & payments:
All bookings require a non refundable booking fee which secures your booking date.
The booking fee required to secure your booking is £15 per tier for celebration cakes and £50 for wedding cakes. Additional costs may be added to the booking fee should we need to buy figures, flowers or any other decorative items in order to finish your cake.
All orders are deemed to have been accepted only when the deposit has been paid. The booking fee isrequired within 48 hours from the time of booking, failure to do so will result in your slot being given to another customer.
For cakes with less than 2 weeks notice the full cost of the cake must be paid at the time of the booking. Booking fees are non refundable. Full payment is required upon collection for all celebration cakes and 4 weeks prior to the event for wedding cakes.
Delivery & Collection:
Delivery/collection will be agreed with you upon placing your order. Delivery is charged at 0.50per mile from the postcode BB5 4DL which is calculated as a round trip.
Unless otherwise requested, wedding cakes will be delivered to the venue and set up at the agreed venue on the required date as stated on the consultation/booking form. We will contact the venue in advance to arrange a mutually convenient time for delivery. The cake will be photographed in situ before we leave. Any damage sustained to the cake after this time is responsibility of the venue not A Cake Occasion. The cost of delivery will be included within the consultation/booking form.
Should you request to collect your cake A Cake Occasion cannot take any responsibility for any damage sustained to the cake during transport, delivery and subsequent set up at the venue. The cake is sole responsibility of the customer once it has left my premises.
Cancellations:
Cancellation of your wedding cake 12 weeks prior to your wedding date will result in the deposit being retained. Cancellations made 5 – 11 weeks before the agreed date, 50% of the remaining balance will be invoiced to cover the cost of special items or supplies that have been purchased to complete your cake. Cancellations made 4 weeks or less will result in the full balance being retained. If the balance has not yet been paid it will be required.

Verbal phone cancellations will not be binding.
Returns & Damages:
If you are not satisfied with the design of your cake please say on collection.If you wish to return a cake, please contact us as soon as possible and state clearly what the issue is. Please note that any remaining cake will need to be returned in order for us to conduct an investigation into the issue.If the cake is damaged before or whilst we are delivering your cake, all efforts will be made to fix the damage.
A Cake Occasion are not responsible for any damage caused to the cake after collection/delivery/set up.Any work repairing a damaged cake through no fault of our own will incur a fee.
Complaints:
Complaints are very rare and due to the amount of work put into each individual cake we take them very seriously. If for any reason you are not happy with your wedding cake we require to be notified and the cake returned to us within 24 hours after your wedding to ensure we are able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint. If you are complaining for a refund you must return at least 75% of the uneaten cake product within 24 hours of delivery.
We do not refund cakes that have been damaged out of our care.
Please note icing may crack as it dries out which is out of our control. No complaint will be given over the taste of our products. We offer wedding cake consultation days which allow you to taste our cakes prior to ordering.
NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN IF A CAKE IS NOT RETURNED
Fresh flowers & in-edible items:
At the request of the client, cakes sometimes contain in-edible items such as brooches, ribbons, flowers, feathers etc. These items must be removed before serving and we accept no responsibility for any harm these might cause.
Fresh flowers are not included in the cost of any wedding cake design. If a wedding cake is to be dressed with fresh flowers, these should be provided by your florist. Please be aware that certain flowers are not suitable for cake decoration. Please ask your florist for details regarding toxicity. A Cake Occasion will not be liable for contamination that may arise from their misuse.
Sugar paste flowers and figures:
If your cake contains flowers and figures made from sugar paste, whilst edible, we do not advise that they be eaten, due to the presence of dowels, cocktail sticks for reinforcement. All our figures are handmade, and therefore, whilst we try to capture the characteristics of a particular person if requested such as hair colour, length, glasses, facial hair, I cannot guarantee a true likeness. It is your responsibility to provide images for our reference.
Stand hire:
We offer cake stand hire. A security deposit is required in advance. It is the buyer’s responsibility to return the stand after hire within 3 days. The deposit will not be refunded in the event the stand is damaged or not returned after the 3 days. We are not liable for any damages that occur to the cake stand before we receive it back. Once the stand is returned within the given timeframe and we are satisfied that it is not damaged a refund will be given to the buyer.
Allergies:
A Cake Occasion is NOT AN ALLERGY-FREE KITCHEN.
We can not guarantee that our products are free from any ingredients that may affect those with food allergies, therefore we DO NOT
cater for allergen free cakes. A Cake Occasion will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to our products.
The following ingredients are used in our kitchen:
- Milk and diary products
- Eggs
- Nuts
- Wheat and Gluten
* Please note that some food colouring may cause an effect on behaviour in children.
Cake design alterations & changes:
Any amendments to the design of your cake may incur additional charges.
All amendment requests must be made at LEAST one month before the wedding date in order for these to be arranged.
If requested, I will endeavour to adjust the design where possible, but sometimes this is not possible according to the nature of the request and amount of time given. If an alteration affects the cost, or preparation work of the original design has already been undertaken, then your remaining cake balance will be adjusted accordingly.
I reserve the right
to change the design at any point if circumstances beyond my control, may it compromise the quality of the finished cake. Occasionally , certain materials or ingredients I use in my cakes may become unavailable. However, I will do my best to select replacement products to reflect the original design as closely as possible.
Cake storage & transportation:
Please store your cake in the box provided.
Please store your cake at room temperature unless otherwise stated on collection/delivery.
Do not place in the fridge, in direct sunlight or anywhere hot.
When collecting your cake please ensure the cake is placed on a non slip matting in a clean empty car boot or in the passenger foot-well of your car. DO NOT
place on the knee of a passenger or on a seat as this can cause cake damage in transit.
Sponge and chocolate cake is best consumed within 3 days from collection/delivery.
